It really is a great program. You guy's did a swell job. Here are my remarks (not critics! ;-)) Why don't you pur some more calendar features in:

Display month, Year, Day etc.

How about color coding for different objects/people

I realy like RAPLA, it's a great job done very well.

I've just one problem : how can I interact with it from external ?

I'd like to interact with the server from a remote application (to generate resource reservation from an other application) but seems not an easy task..... even digging in the code ! I'd like to help for a remote API interface, if you could need my help.

What about stamping appointments? I mean I need to know WHEN appointment was added (so I know who was first to reserve resource). Or other solution: instead of displaying appointments in alfabetical order (appointment for the smame hour) display them in ordre as they were planed.

Christopher: We may add a timestamp to a reservation object. However this would only indicate the last change that was made to the reservation. To keep track of all changes of a source-allocation you should use the Email Notification.

Thanks for answer. I was thinking about inserting date information in each event; for instance when you have mouse up then you can read not only event name but also date. In this way you can immediately see which event was first. Email notification is interesting yet this guy... have not e-mail accounts. Ok, you will do what you can. Thanks.

Group of potential users I try to convince to this application has suggestions as follow:

  • Appointment that is in conflict can be added only by Admin (option to set in settings)
  • When one make reservation (new appointment), there is only eventname to fill. Is also possible to add next filed; something like 'description'? That would allow to insert more information about reservation, ie: phone number, address, the need etc.
  • Reports. Would be fine if one can print reservation calendar (from date... to date...) for some resource

Well, if some of this options are possible to include in next versions...

Christopher: Added create and last-modified fields to reservation. They will be available in the next release. You can add fields like telephone or description to the event by editing the event-type. Click events in left menu and choose event-types.

Thanks Christopher. What about other suggestions? Conflicts handling ane reports.'Reservation calendar' (to be able to print) would be helpful because if we want to plan shipments delivery then truck driver must get day planning.

Conflict restriction for admins will probably make it in the next or the following release. But I'm not sure if I understood reservation reports correct. Could you attach an example. Or maybe its better to move the discussion to the [mailing list|http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/rapla-developers].

Thank you Christopher. Talking about report example. I've added it (rapla_report_example.pdf). What I need is something rather simple (I know that making something new costs time); Imagine that you did plan delivery to several customers for incomming days. So, you have insterted serveral entries but to inform truck dirver about delivery details you have to give him paper (with all details). It would be good to have all information (on this printed paper) that were inside resorce reservation - for instance: 'eventname', 'date', 'description', 'address'.... all information that you inserted in event. Now only 'eventname' is printed when you use 'print/export' (even if in event definintion there were more fields to fill). Printing such report one must have option to choose which range of dates ('from', 'to'). I hope this is possible. Have a great day.

I want to upgrade Rapla I use and I have question; to get exported file one have to type url like: http://127.0.0.1:8051/calendar.jsp?user=admin&file=20050301

Problem is that this is too complex for ordinary user to type url like that. Is there any better way (like for instance making information 'the file is avaliable under' a link?). So user could clik to display.

Great piece of software. Im a netadmin for a medium sized k 12 school and there hasnt been a great solution for IT device bookings/lab bookins. I really enjoy this and look forward to letting my teaching faculty loose on this, one question though. Would it be possible to instead of have times, have periods 1 through 6? To cater for small scale education (and because teachers work better on periods then times :-) ) Just a thought. Great software!!

Awesome software, people! Really awesome! I was wondering if there were any plans for a section for keeping notes within an event details window were in the works. For instance, when you create a new event, there isn't a place to put in any notes.

Also, I was kind of hoping for some kind of customer tracking, if nothing more than a rolodex type deal.
